Even with the 50+ nominations recently added, we have quite the backlog according to our users here after scoping out potential nominations. Listed here are some of the more likely additions in 2016/2017. I am sure we will see more nomination ad-hoc from countries like India, Italy, Spain, France, Mexico, and China as it seems potential nominations are commonly mentioned, but I doubt any major updates are imminent. In fact, we've had some recent tentative nominations (2016) added from India, Italy, Spain, France and China. By years end we should have 3 major updates coming from Portugal, the US, and Australia.

Will second that, it was a real highlight of my last visit to LA. I also liked the murals of Charlie Mingus that adorned the visitor centre.

I don't quite know if it could work itself onto the list, but it is well worth a visit and I would be delighted to see it added.

My own thoughts as well. I am not sure it can make the full case for OUV, but I am sure Gaudi will be part of the comparative analysis! This article goes into more detail than the previous one. A nomination has been submitted to the National Park Service, and it seems to have some real support here in LA. I am already crossing my fingers for California Tentative Nominations. owers-considered-as-unesco-world-heritage-site&catid=23:community&Itemid=118

Could this happen? 4 Nominations from California?

Watts Towers

6 in a half years ago I emailed the Watts Towers Art Center about this very topic. I don't think I got a reply, but I am glad someone involved in its preservation has thought of this and made it a real possibility. Watts Towers really is a special place.

I recently visited the Watts Towers. Amazing place, the tour was great and the Watts Arts Center was very nice as well. I just wanted to ask if there had been any talk or discussion on potentially trying to nominate the Watts Towers as a Unesco World Heritage site? I think it deserves the recognition and the Watts Art Center and community would all benefit with the inscription of a site that I think many would consider a place of "Outstanding Universal Value". My fiancee and I had a great time here, thanks for a fantastic experience.

Best Regards

Germany - Ludwigslust

The nomination committee want to combine city of Ludwigslust with the already in the tentative list of Residence Ensemble Schwerin to strengthen OUV on Duchy of Mecklenburg.

Even as a Germanophile, I can't see the OUV of Schwerin/Ludwigslust. The era when beginnings of the Duchy and later the building are being targeted for was a relatively important period (for the expansion of Prussia and of course later the German Empire) in a relatively unimportant state, by which I mean the Grand Duchy, not Mecklenburg/Pommern so don't come after me Mecklenburgers! (aside from the Hanseatic ports which are represented). Furthermore, during the period when these buildings were constructed Prussian influence was so strong that the Grand Duchy was basically a client state of Prussia and with Potsdam already inscribed as a palace complex with palaces from the baroque to the historicist, even though Schwerin Palace provides unbelievable photogenicity, IMO theres not much there that's so different from other inscribed sites other than the quality of the site which is indeed spectacular and beautiful. Ludwigslust doesn't seem like it would add any more than other late baroque palace towns. Of all of these types of places, I like Karlsruhe for its innovative layout and influence on the architecture of the US (Maryland State Capitol, layout of DC). But then you go down that road and there's the Ludwig "castles" which have indisputably influenced (even if in a not so great way the view of Germanic castles) It was certainly an age of opulence but I think Mecklenburg/Pomerania could come up with something more interesting. You do have the hands of early "superstar" architects in Semper, Stuler, and Schinkel and I don't know how many individual "Historicist" sites there are on the list, but there are plenty of inscribed cities (i.e. Budapest) that have strong Historicist architectural fabric.

But I love the place anyway!
