Saguenay Fjord National Park (Canada)

It should be noted that Saguenay Fjord is NOT a national park under the auspices of Parks Canada. It is actually a provincial park. It is just that in Quebec, they call their provincial parks "national parks".

I am not aware that this has been highlighted before and can't find it under "search" -

Having recently got Villa La Roche inscribed, Paris City (inside the Peripherique) appears to have concluded that it needs another WHS and has launched a project to bring forward a nomination for
"Les Toits de Paris" (Rooftops of Paris). Novel!!

Official web site (in French) here - http://www.candidature-toitsdeparis.fr/
More (in English) here - http://francerevisited.com/2015/03/do-the-rooftops-of-paris-have-outstanding-universa l-value/

"Les Toits de Paris

Don't worry Solivagant, this interesting nomination is under our radar for a couple of years :) You can see the summary site of Winterkjm in 2014 and 2015!

Thanks Durian - I was looking for "Toits" rather than "roofs".
By the way "under the radar" means NOT detected/known about whilst "on the Radar" means known about! From aircraft flying so low that radar couldn't detect them

Great to see movement regarding this TL Site

Chile - Monte Verde Archaeological Site

!

As I back then, when we discussed the Top Missing Sites list, despite its inconspicuous name, it is definitively a world class archaeological site. Good for Chile and Los Lagos region.

I remember when I found out (to my huge surprise) in the map of the Paris-Banks of the Seine heritage site that some really noteworthy sites, like the Opera Garnier, the Jardin de Luxembourg, St Sulpice, St Germain-des-Près, the Pantheon and the Arc de Triomphe, are outside the WH site. I also think about the modern additions, to me, the Centre Pompidou should be inscribed sometime on its own for its game changing role in the history of architecture, maybe the Parc de la Villette too.

It's already on the T-list. So probably, what is meant is that it hopes to be nominated soon.

California Current Conservation Complex (California)
- serial nomination of Monterey Bay, Greater Farallones and Cordell Bank

This is a pleasant surprise, sounds like the nomination is quite advanced at this stage and ready for the NPS evaluation.

Salish Sea (Canada)

So with Monterey Bay, this makes two campaigns for new natural World Heritage Sites covering Pacific waters off the west coast of North America. I'd love to see at least one of these get inscribed. I'm curious whether Canada will seek to work with the US on the Salish Sea nomination, since a good portion of it is around the San Juan Islands in Washington state.

I hope so, and it gets a supportive nod from me. I have been intent on visiting the San Juan and Fidalgo Islands for years (even before my WHS obsession began) as a fair chunk of my record collection originates from there.

I would also be supportive of the Monterey Bay proposal, (and not just because I watched Finding Dory yesterday) I really love the area and the amount of sea-life you encounter is pretty impressive. Also a family friend runs a pub there, so it would be lovely to see them benefit from additional trade :)

Socialist Postwar Architecture in Central and Eastern Europe (Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Poland)

Key streets of Minsk, Moscow, Kiev, Kharkov, Berlin and Warsaw

I imagine for some of you, this will be a very exciting nomination! We had Soviet Architecture of Moscow at 26 in our Top Missing List in 2014.
