Turkey (62)
China (55)
Iran (51)
India (47)
Italy (40)
France (39)
Spain (30)

On a bit of curiosity I examined the countries that have 30 or more TWHS, who frequently submit nominations to the WHC. These 7 countries result in 20% of all tentative nominations (324 of 1646). Egypt and Uzbekistan both have over 30 TWHS nominations, but they rarely complete and submit sites to the WHC. Granted these 7 countries represent 40% of the worlds population, but sometimes this kind of data still surprises me.

2015: 1 in every 4 nominations came from these seven countries
2016: 1 in every 4 nominations came from these seven countries
2017: Current nominations indicate a similar trend

Regional Representation (Silk Road Influence)
Latin Europe (Spain, France, Italy)
Near East (Turkey, Iran)
Greater China
Greater India

Interesting nomination, but is it too early and should be in Memory of the World programme? With respect I would welcome for sites about Gandhi or MLK, at least time already prove its worthiness.

Hmm, I must admit I'm a little uncomfortable with a move towards using WHS to help cement the role of iconic figures.
The politicisation of the process is already pretty strong, even when discussing mining landscapes and derelict forts. Introducing contemporary political figures into the mix feels like a move in the wrong direction to me. If it is the case then I think the Memory of the World list would be a better place for it.

Although I realise my own contradictions; when does something become old enough to become suitable? Why should Martin Luther be acknowledged on the list but Martin Luther King not?

A similar site has been forwarded by Rwanda as its first WHS:
Sites mémoriaux du génocide : Nyamata, Murambi, Bisesero et Gisozi.
I wonder how Icomos would handle such a proposal.
