Obviously you had more luck with your request, I wrote an email to the Gibraltar Museum in early June, but never got a response.

Ah that is a shame, they were very quick responding to me, haven't heard back from Dolphin tours though, so it may just be the luck of the draw.

I will send of an e-mail, just to get a feel for a potential visit next year ad see what the come back with. Amazingly my 2017 is already filling up but September could well work.

Any news yet ? I'm mulling over the possibility of visiting Andalucia + Gibraltar towards the end of September 2017.

Couldn't resist not booking a direct return flight to Malaga for 99 euro! Hope you will opt for Gibraltar mid September. If not, I'll go for the Dolphin Adventures morning boat trip on Sunday 17th September :)

Oh sorry I missed this. No I haven't heard anything, they said they would be away for a few weeks. I will follow up with them. Perhaps you having a specific date could work out well in getting things moving.

Most probably I'll only stay in Gibraltar for 1 day so as to have enough time to visit Antequera, Cordoba, Ubeda/Baeza/Jaen and Granada. I'll leave Seville and Donana NP as the last Spanish WHS to visit on mainland Spain as I want to allow more time for Seville :)

Do we have a decision yet on where (or perhaps even if) we might meet this year? I too am planning a trip for Autumn which takes in Southern Spain so Gibraltar as a venue for a meeting would suit me just fine. I guess its in your gift, Els, to decide where and when. So what do you think?

We do have a bit of an issue with this, as we haven't been able yet to be allowed into the caves. Meltwaterfalls was corresponding about it.

I want to come to the meeting almost regardless of where it is held. Except perhaps Gibraltar twice in a period of a few weeks. So until we have a time and place confirmed I'll make no bookings (flights/accommodation) for my own plans which can't be easily cancelled/amended free of charge. All power to meltwaterfalls in his/her negotiations.

Thanks for the reminder, nfmungard actually jogged my memory about this in a pub a few months ago, but like most things that come after four pints it was swiftly forgotten.

I've just sent off a nudge to them and will let you know when they come back.

Personally I'm a little all over the place with holidays this year, so I'm not sure if the autumn will work for me, but I will carry on and let you know what they come back with, and if needs be I can hand over the reigns to someone if I'm not able to make it there myself (not worth basing any plans around me at the moment :))

Right this is the feedback I received.

I think September is probably preferable (weather) but avoid 21st to 24th which is the annual conference. We are having to be careful about numbers going into the caves as the archaeological deposits are fragile, so the 'standard' trip this year is to the mouth of the caves along a walkway, but not into the cave. I can see if we could make an exception, but hesitate to guarantee this. I need to check with the Boss!.

By September the new viewing platform along Europa Advance Road will be open, and there will be on-site guides as well as information panels. The Museum displays are also being upgraded again this year ready for Museums' Day in mid May

I'm due to visit the Western Balkans in September so will check my dates and see if I can work in a trip via Gibraltar, though I may not be able to make that work I'm happy to keep on arranging the tour.

Let me know what works well for people..

I'll be there on the 17th September and have already booked a Dolphin Adventures morning trip. I'd obviously cancel if you manage to book a tour inside the cave on that day.

I'll be in Ecuador from the 16th. Only 2nd or 9th would work for me. But let the majority decide.

It seems I'll be missing out then. Hopefully, I'll make it next year.

Els, I think you should choose the best possible date with the most availabilities from WH travellers but one in which you're available too ;)

I can make any date in September but I agree with Clyde, you should be there Els. Like it or not, we are all your children in this matter. September 9 anyone?
