		Khuft I read it as a political statement expressing mistrust to advisory bodies and necessity to carefully check all their recommendations. I noticed a quote by Ethiopia during previous sessions: AB recommendations are only recommendations, they are not carved on the stone, and we (state party delegates) are making decisions.

		Zoe: I wish Gdansk gets a "not inscribe" for Poland to get the message and send a clearer message that these historic events aren't necessary to be linked to a more or less modern town. Same goes to India for the Ghandi protests, South Africa for the anti-apartheid movement. Only because there is a building that the event took place in front doesn't make the building worth inscribing. I'm also not a fan of Luther memorials, Columbus' residences, Robben Island, Normandy Beaches, and the list goes on. Boston could be inscribed in that case, Newton's residence, or perhaps Brandenburg Gate for multiple events. The weirdest part is that the shipyard is in a rather shabby state and the area seems predestined for some good old urban renewal. Liverpool loves company. Luther Memorials -> Agreed. Normandy Beaches -> Should be out anyhow as war memories. Brandenburg Gate with Gendarmenmarkt etc. (Schinkel) meanwhile, I think could be a site. If it were not tied to some ugly parts of history.

Poland together with Hungary do not care about these "unimportant" issues (that this is simply absurd nomination), and use it as a stick for beating western democratic usurpers. In this sense 1989 Tiananmen square protest should be proposed...

Isn't a working group currently working on an amendment that would / might request a broader interpretation taking into account the views of a broader range of experts? At least that was what Brazil and Uganda and some others were asking for...

		Maybe after Republicans returning to power in the USA (and this will happen one day), the WHC will be faced by a proposal: "The will of the people. The sites of the real Americans movement against the rigged election 2020 on January 6th 2021." The OUV of Capitol Hill is undoubted. Will the WHC be able to resist?

It already lies within the T List site of "Central Axis of Beijing" but I doubt if a certain historic event which took place there would get a mention in any nomination as part of its OUV! The description provided by China states "the Central Axis has undergone functional renovation and spatial re-organization during the Republic of China and People's Republic of China. In particular, the renovation and expansion of Tian'anmen Square shifted the spatial and symbolic focus of the Central Axis from the Forbidden City to Tian'anmen Square in the south".

		Tiananmen square is actually on China's Tentative List, as part of "The Central Axis of Beijing", which also includes (or maybe is meant as an extension of) the Forbidden City. http://whc.unesco.org/en/tentativelists/5802/ I'm sure they wouldn't mind to see it inscribed. It contains the mausoleum of Chairman Mao as well, and is flanked by the Great Hall of the People (China's Parliament building) and the National Museum of China.

But this is not definitely the case of Gdansk as proven by AB evaluation. Despite this, rather assertive representativ of Poland accused ICOMOS to be unprofesional and insisting Gdansk to be inscribed.

		They are back and the propossal is to refer the decision back to the state parties to enable the removal of the the Hungarian sites and refocus on the more limited geographical boundaries.
