Looks like it is going to be a vote by secret ballot. Wonder how they will do it online?
They are also unsure what they are voting on.

2/3 majority needed for delisting by secret ballot. Will be difficult to reach

Ballot will be held on 21st. A representative of each WHC member has to come to the WH headquarters in Paris in person!

I do not understand the presented procedure of voting fpr the draft decision. The ballot is standing in Paris, and people should arrive in person?

Mali stands up for DRC, regarding Salonga NP. Has prepared an amendment to get a way out of in danger listing in the near future as great progress has been made.

Tomorrow will be a decision. Most probably the issue will be postponed for next year.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to say thank you for this yesterday, but thank you anyway.

Australia says that Selous is a whole different story than Liverpool. Can a new WH nomination be carved out? The dam area is only 1.8% of the vast park. Leave it on the Danger list until then.

Uganda, Nigeria and other African countries say that the report on Selous is flawed. Poaching even has become less of a problem.

South Africa just highlighted that the advisory body was aware of the dam already at the inscription time in 1982 and didn't mind... and indeed they were- quote from IUCN Technical Report:
"INTEGRITY
The area is so large that it can absorb all but the most severe pressures on
its resources. There are plans to harness the tlood waters of the Rufij i
River, with a dam to be constructed at Stiegler's Gorge, but this would affect
only a relatively small part of the Reserve and should not be a matter of
serious concern unless the reservoir draws in large numbers of settlers. "

IUCN argues that impact of the dam goes far beyond its immediate area of 1.8%. Also hard to carve out as the dam will be in the center.

This bites IUCN in the back now. Delisting averted. Selous stays In Danger.

Counting is due to finish at 11:00 (CET) so I guess we will know just after that.
