We visited the Lin peninsula last year - ICOMOS is acting in "Pavlovian dog" fashion regarding the proposed railway - it isn't going to be that close to the Church. But as per my review of nearby Prespes the inscription of the whole area as a mixed site was and is a nonsense

I've just sen how big Vatnajokull actually is. It is probably about a fifth of the size of the country.

Do we have a connection for sites making up the highest percentage of the state party?

Vatican will obviously win, is the inscribed site actually larger than the country in that case?

You would have thought that Susan Denyer would have checked the pronunciation of "Ohrid" - she keeps saying "'orrid"!!!

Paraty inscribed

Even with banal platitudes, I think I could listen Brazilian Portuguese being spoken all day long.

Ancient ferrous metallurgy sites of Burkina Faso inscribed,

Ah well - some years ago we saw a different "Ancient Metallurgy site" in W Africa - but its Blast Furnace looked to be just the same as the photos of those inscribed here. I will have to check back on our diaries as to exactly where it was!

Interesting idea to have a 3 dimensional inscribed zone - length, width and depth (i.e below ground ) - with the highest level below ground being only a "Buffer zone". One might have expected this concept to have emerged elsewhere that non UV buildings have been constructed above archaeological sites

That will automatically be allright after this year's session ends (or earlier if Nan wants to provide a quick fix -> we need to exclude sites.status=3, Nan)
For the status of this year's new inscriptions look at https://www.worldheritagesite.org/list/new
