This article makes me think Myauk-U is surprisingly still on for 2022? How the article is written, there is an impression that it will be evaluated for the 44th WHC this year! However, that would not be possible unless an emergency nomination was pursued.

https://lepetitjournal.com/birmanie/le-dossier-de-mrauk-u-au-patrimoine-de-lhumanite-depose-lunesco-305903

I think it still is 2022, they filed the dossier in January 2021. Google translate says "A criterion that also weighed in the decision of last January to postpone the submission of the final candidacy to 2022 instead of 2021".

Santiniketan seems as per unofficial news.

I had mentioned about Santiniketan

Additionally, a few countries have submitted more dossiers than 1 and had to choose among them (I have put their no. 1 choice in the lists above).
Waitlisted are:
- Ethiopia: Bale Mountains NP (complete) and Melka Kunture (incomplete)
- India: Sacred ensemble of the Hoysalas (complete)
- Iran: the extension of both the Armenian churches (Amenaprkich) and Persepolis (Naqsh-e Rostam & Naqsh-e Rajab) (both complete)

We can write those down for 2023.

- Tak'alik Ab'aj (Guatemala) YES

Well, that of course makes me very happy. As discussed in another forum, it is thematically the best site that Guatemala has in store, regarding a topic (the Olmec-Mayan connection) that isn't anywhere in the list. Additionally, it would be -if inscribed- the first site in the Pacific side of that country.

Wondering how accurate this report is.
I did expect the final documents to be released today, by the way. Not on Monday.

What are the great sites in 2022 proposals? Anything from our top missing lists?

winterkjm:
- Mt. Kumgang – Diamond Mountain from the Sea (DPRK - North Korea)

Would prefer a combined site spanning into Seoraksan, South Korea.

winterkjm:
Africa (4)

More like (2) seeing 2 of 4 are extensions.

winterkjm:
- Jewish-Medieval Heritage of Erfurt (Germany)

Still think this is a joke.

winterkjm:
- Žatec and the Landscape of Saaz Hops (Czechia)
- Kuldīga / Goldingen in Courland (Latvia)

Very different treatment of the German past by Latvia and Czechia. Latvia -> refers to the German name. Czechia -> only refers to Saaz as the name of the hops, not the historical German name of the place.

Yes, we, Czechs, are very good in stealing of the heritage created by diligent Germans: Žatec/Saaz, Holašovice/Hollschowitz, Spa towns (Karlsbad, Marienbad, Francensbad), Erzgebirge, and other non-Czech nations: Lednice-Valtice (Eisgrub-Feldsberg - Austrian nobility), Tugendhat villa (Jewish family), Třebíč (Jewish community), Zelená Hora church or castle in Telč (architects of Italian origin), etc.
In my opinion, it is better to leave the demons asleep...

@Pavel
Its not about waking the demon. Its just about how different countries handle pretty much the same events history: the mass expulsion of the native German-speaking minorities after WW2 (due to WW caused by the Germans). The Lithuanians acknowledge it. The Czechs do not, i.e. don't even mention why Saazer hops is called Saazer hops.

Yes, this is a sad story, and it is still an issue especially in north Bohemia, where Žatec/Saaz is located. It has been misused in our elections many times. Thus, I am a bit oversensitive... On the other hand, it is not fair to say that all the heritage has been created solely by Germans.

This makes the most sense to me. Same mountain range, the heart of the parks are less than 60 kilometers away from each other. An extension could certainly be pursued by the South Korean government in the near future.
