Thanks winterkjm and that's true--there's not much media reports about our own nominations. I read an article saying that beginning 2018, Philippines would try to nominate one per year for inscription--dunno what happened now but yeah hahaha.

The Rise of Systematic Biology (Sweden)

Myauk-U Archaeological Area and Monuments (Myanmar)

Not planned for 2020, delayed or dropped.

Sweden is now seeking international partners, with a tentative hope for inscription in 2022. Based on the article below, Myanmar is hoping to submit the nomination by Feb. 1st 2020 for inscription in 2021.

Monuments and Forts of the Deccan Sultanate (India)

Several articles indicate Ramappa Temple (India) as the sole nomination for 2019. Anyone have insight into this? Should we now expect Ramappa over the Deccan Sultinate nomination?

Ramappa is the only surviving part of the The Glorious Kakatiya Temples and Gateways, which has been Incomplete and Postponed the past 2 years respectively. So no surprise that this is on the fast track.

According to the news Thai government resubmitted KKFC proposal on 1 Feb 2019, so this referral site should reappear in 2020 WHC.

Hi Durian, is Kaeng Krachan nomination in addition to Chiang Mai? I was looking for that article that I read that Chiang Mai will be delayed because of some internal issues but couldn't find it.

Unfortunately Chiang Mai is delayed because they cannot finish the final nomination dossier before Feb2019 after got some comments from Unesco on Nov2018. Nomination committee aims for this year Q3 to resubmit the final dossier. Since WHC use 1Feb as deadline to list site for next year survey by ICOMOS/IUCN, it is likely that WHC2021 is the new date for Chiang Mai.

Chankillo Astronomical Complex - Peru

This site - only added to Peru's T List in 2013 - seems to have slipped through to nomination under our radar!!!
This report indicates that UNESCO has passed the Nomination on to ICOMOS for evaluation. So, presumably it was submitted by end Jan this year and its evaluation will be discussed at the 2020 WHC. So 2020 will be quite an active year for South America - 4 sites so far
@watkinstravel - you haven't reviewed it so far - did you not visit it during your recent travels in Peru?

So, in fact we are left with a mere 20 NEW and complete nominations for consideration in 2020 = must be one of the lowest ever?? A lot of attrition occurred among the non developed countries so Europe/Far East does disproportionately well. But Latin America will also have a busy year! On the whole it doesn't look a very enthralling year - are there any from our top 50 missing??? Padova -Scrovegni I think?? No doubt some of them will prove more interesting on further study but yet more rock art, tidal flats, Karst, railways etc etc

New Nominations for Consideration
Ethiopia Holqa Sof Umar: Natural and Cultural Heritage (Sof Umar: Caves of Myst)
Saudi Arabia Cultural Rock Arts in Himã Najrãn
India The Glorious Kakatiya Temples and Gateways – Ramappa
Iran Trans-Iranian Railway
Japan Amami-Oshima Island, Tokunoshima Island, Northern part of Okinawa
Mongolia Deer Stone Monuments and Related Sites, the Heart of Bronze Age Culture
Republic of Korea Getbol, Korean Tidal Flat
The Great Spas of Europe
France Le phare de Cordouan
Georgia Colchic Rainforests and Wetlands
Germany Mathildenhöhe Darmstadt
Greece Fortress of Spinalonga
Italy Padova Urbs picta, Giotto's Scrovegni Chapel tcc
Slovenia Classical Karst
Spain Paseo del Prado and Buen Retiro etc
Turkey Arslantepe Mound
Brazil Sítio Roberto Burle Marx
D Rep Archaeological Site of La Isabela
Peru Chankillo Solar Observatory and ceremonial center
Uruguay L'œuvre de l'ingénieur Eladio Dieste : église d'Atlántida
Extension
Netherlands Dutch Water Defence Lines
Postponed
Rwanda Sites mémoriaux du génocide (Because of "War" issue)
Brazil Lençóis Maranhenses National Park (Because Brazil chose Burle Marx instead)

So - what has happened to many of those 40 above which we had expected might be nominated on the basis of press reports etc etc???
We had identified only 15 of them
Genocide Memorial Sites (Rwanda)
Arab Eclecticism - As-Salt (1860-1925) (Jordan)
Trans-Iranian Railway (Iran)
N Okinawa
Korea tidal flats
Great Spas
Phare de Corduouan
Darmstadt Artists'
Spinalonga
Padova
Nieuwe Hollandse Waterline
Classical Karst (Slovenia)
Paseo Prado
Cal Orck'o (Bolivia)
Lençóis Maranhenses National Park (Brazil)

The following from our list didn't make it as far as even an incomplete or postponed nomination. It will be interesting to see how many get transferred forward to 2021, 22 .........???
Tarrafal Concentration Camp (Cabo Verde)
Réserve de Biosphère de l'Archipel des Bijagos (Guinea-Bissau)
Historic Sites and Cultural Landscapes of Manden (Mali)

^Exactly the same reaction Solivagant.

Heartbroken to see that Mount Mantalingajan is not on the list, when they are supposed to be presented in 2020.

As a reference, 5 of the 7 sites marked as incomplete last year are not on this year's listing of nominations received. I wonder when they would be presented...
