I've visited Buseoksa and Beopjusa, both are without reservation some of the best examples of Korean Buddhist temples I've seen. Several national treasures, iconic structures dating back to Goryeo, a large six-story wooden pagoda, and exquisite scenery. I only missed Tongdosa because of a downpour! Shame, as its considered one of the most unique temples and is quite famous in Korea. I cannot speak for Seonamsa and Bongjeongsa having never been, but I did visit Magoksa. I enjoyed my visit to this temple on the outskirts of Gongju, the pagoda is very unique, but I would agree with ICOMOS it does "lack historical value" in comparison with the 4 recommended components.

Anyway, the moment of truth that we wait for every year is arriving. I am going to have next week a crazy amount of work to do, but I hope to cope with seeing the ICOMOS and IUCN recommendations by next weekend. As always I am very much for Asian sites and, particularly the Chinese and Iranian sites that we do not still know about the recommendations.

I previously reported on this months back, but its all official now. IUCN did evaluate referred nominations below.

France, Chaîne des Puys - Limagne fault tectonic arena (referred in 2016)
