Russia "blinks" but probably gets what it wants in the longer term - OUV established as OK and a future fudge on "authenticity" and Crit vi is provided for - "We hope that their (ICOMOS) views on authenticity will change"!!

Russia has accepted referral.

Even if a form of OUV is established today, it does not mean however, that ICOMOS upon its next evaluation has to abide by this, no? They could once again recommend Not Inscribe or a Deferral depending on their inclination.

The Indian and Russian delegates "hug" each other!! I guess they are reasonably pleased to have overturned the "Reject" recommendation - they might have hoped for better though?

The Indian representative often up to go see the Russian representative. Drag on? The two countries often have points of view consistent. :)

Is it official then, 19 new Inscriptions?

While there were plenty of difference in opinion between the advisory bodies and the committee. However, only 1 deferral nomination gained inscription, and 0 nominations were successful when recommended for non-inscription. This is very different compared to last year.

A result of continued expectations being stressed to the WHC to follow recommendations by the advisory bodies?

19, the trend of bass. Historically, the average was about 25/30.
But to have a credible lst, we can't continue to register a lot every year.
