Assif Am-David (Israel):
The Hula used to centre around a lake that was dried up by the Zionist pioneers in favour of the establishment of new agricultural settlements. The last twenty years saw the reconstruction of the lake on a smaller skale. The area is still a central spot on the migratory routes of different bird species. Apart from the reconstructed lake and its visitor centre there isn't much to see in the area which is of high natural significance. It is a nice region to explore, mainly thanks to its lavish green otherwise so much out of the ordinary in Israel. Date posted: March 2009
