Graz

Graz
.
The City of Graz (Historic Centre) is recognized due to the harmonious co-existence of typical buildings from different epochs and in different architectural styles. Being situated in a cultural borderland between Central Europe, Italy and the Balkan States, Graz absorbed various influences from the neighbouring regions and thus received its exceptional townscape. Today the old town consists of over 1000 buildings, their age ranging from Gothic to Contemporary.

Graz is a really nice city. You can walk through the inner city and see many nice buildings, many have interesting paintings on their walls (and I don't mean graffiti!). I like to visit Graz!

A lesser-known city, perhaps, but the EU did not make Graz the European Capital of Culture in 2003 for nothing. It has a very nice and very well-preserved city centre with many fine buildings from several epochs, watched from above by the Uhrturm (clock tower), the city´s landmark. Certainly a nice place to visit, espcially in late summer/early fall, when there are cultural festivals and the nearby vineyards can be enjoyed. Oh yes, and Schwarzenegger is from there - but naming the stadium after him was too much of an honor in my opinion.
