My interest in Unesco's World Heritage List started with a book called Heritage of Humanity (in Dutch, 'Erfgoed der Mensheid'). It was a birthday present I received in 1997. This book combines background information of each World Heritage Site with a beautiful photo. When I started experimenting with the Internet a few months later, I borrowed this idea as a theme for my personal website.

Travelling of course has always been my favourite pastime. I discovered that I had already visited quite a number of World Heritage Sites over the years. In constructing the website, I became more and more dedicated. Nowadays, I'm hunting for new WHS almost once every month.

Plans include Syria at Christmas, Nicaragua or Cuba in March 2010 and Uzbekistan/Turkmenistan in May/June. The 4 month RTW-trip is getting more and more serious every day too, but might be postponed to 2011!
