I've now been to all 4 potential sites that I mentioned above

I have reports (in Dutch) + photos of:
- Beinan : http://elsslots.wordpress.com/2013/11/13/de-beinan-cultuur-van-prehistorisch-taiwan/
- Taroko: http://elsslots.wordpress.com/2013/11/12/taroko-wonder-der-natuur/
- Fort Santo Domingo in Tamsui: http://elsslots.wordpress.com/2013/11/10/verleden-tijd-in-taipei-en-tamsui/
- Jiufen, part of Shue-Jin-Jiu mining sites: http://elsslots.wordpress.com/2013/11/09/massaal-de-stad-uit/

All except Taroko are sites of little interest in my opinion. Not considered, but worthwhile: the Baoan temple in Taipei (Taiwan folk religion at its best)

Alishan Forest Train

The English news is a bit different from the Chinese version. The Chinese one reported that Taiwan plans to nominate Alishan Forest Train as its first WHS. (At first I don't think this will be possible, but the recent move of Trump on Taiwan policy made me think twice on this matter)
