After 15 years, Czechia's last inscription was in 2003! Moreover, with several withdrawn and deferred nominations during the last 10 years (I count 8!), Czechia may have a good chance at gaining an inscription or two very soon. These 4 nominations actually cover 7 of 19 of Czechia's current Tentative List. Based on these facts, Czechia's tentative list and future nominations will be largely exhausted. This certainly is not for lack of trying!

2018
Žatec – the Hops Town (Czechia)

2019
The Timeless, humanistic architecture of Jože Plečnik in Ljubljana and Prague (Slovenia, Czechia)
Mining Cultural Landscape Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří (Czechia, Germany)
Great Spas of Europe (Austria, Belgium, Czechia, France, Germany, Italy, UK)

I thought someone just got very depressed (looking at the title of this topic) - but fortunately it's 'only' about Czech WHS

Nope, I actually think its kind of fun to see a country reach its apex of representation after a long hiatus from WHC success. That being said, I think there are other nations that seem to be progressing through a "last effort" toward inscriptions on a largely exhausted tentative list.

Austria, like Czechia has had several failed nominations over the last 15 years (I count 4!) and only one inscription. However, after recent Tentative List additions, there are 4 nominations being actively prepared. Also like Czechia they are primarily transnational. With only 13 remaining tentative sites, 4 active, and 5 TWHS nominations dating from 1994, there seems little chance Austria will bring forward much more nominations after this current batch.

2017
Primeval Beech Forests (extension 11 nations)

2018
Frontiers of the Roman Empire - Danube Limes [extension] (Austria, Germany)
Grossglockner High Alpine Road (Austria)

2019
Great Spas of Europe (Austria, Belgium, Czechia, France, Germany, Italy, UK)

Re: Austria

Hall in Tirol is still preparing a comeback. It is believed that the archaeological discoveries at the historical mint will shed a different light on the entire nomination and maybe they are right. The nomination was recommended a rejection for the lack of coherence with its main features being intanagible. This may end with the full documentation of recent excavations.

We have already discussed the option of the Otto Wagner hospital complex in Vienna including the famous Kirche am Steinhof. There was a major drawback due to the decision of the Viennese municipality to build a new complex nearby. The accomplishment of the preservationists' efforts was that the historic part (core zone) will not be affected. Some changes will be carried out inside the buildings but hopefully the general view will remain authentic. Currently it seems the initiative to inscribe this Jugendstil ensemble dried out, however, if it ever revives I still believe it stands a fairly good chance. It is of superb quality and will be an enrichment to the current list.

Germany proposes the Alpine meadows in Bavaria, which could be extended to Austria (and Switzerland) with no problem. Austria previously proposed the pretty similar Bregenzer Wald which was deferred not because the apparent lack of OUV but because it is a part of a larger agricultural region which needs to be duly represented, I could imagine a transnational nomination here.

With the rest of the TWHS I can see no chance of future inscriptions.

5 of 8 nominations listed here for 2018/2019 are transnational. Successful or not, Austria and Czechia will have largely exhausted their respective Tentative Lists by 2020. Yes, several tentative nominations will remain, but of those most date to around 20 years on the state parties tentative list. Many have in fact been evaluated by ICOMOS and have previously failed.
