CHAÎNE DES PUYS ET FAILLE DE LIMAGNE (Referred)

I really hope the benefactors of this nomination move on and go for the Geopark status like IUCN recommended. Of all the decisions this year, referring this nomination makes the least sense. The act of the Committee to keep dead nominations alive, despite repeated failures is one of the most ridiculous elements of the Convention. It wastes time, money, and should rightfully be seen as insulting to other state parties.

Not sure that there will be a livesteam for WHC 2016 Phase 2 that will happen from 24 - 26 October.

From agenda, there is one WHS nomination to be discussed, Thailand' KKFC! From the record there is no decision to refer in Istanbul as we understood, just pending and will decide in Paris instead!

Maybe no new WHS on this Phase 2 meeting.

From the news, Thailand' cabinet made a resolution that "Thailand shall accelerate to discuss with the Republic of the Union of Myanmar before the meeting takes place. The draft resolution to be confirmed by the World Heritage Committee to return the document to delay the registration area of Kaeng Krachan Forest to be a world heritage site. There shall be no statement on the boundaries issue in the decision of the World Heritage Committee" (google translate)

Has anyone seen what this is about?

Looks like some kind of extension/boundary change. I don't see it on the agenda or in the prepared documents however.

I see Palestine (and the Arab states) largely got what it wanted re the "Jerusalem Resolution" at the WHC - 10 for, with 8 abstentions and only 2 against in a secret ballot (Jamaica is absent by the way - hence only 20) which indicates that very few countries on the WHC were prepared to make a stand in favour of Israel even in "secret"

What/where next?? From her comments, Hillary seems unlikely to want to change the US stance re UNESCO even if changes in the balance of Congress after the elections were to put her into a position to do so.
An Israeli paper reckoned the 10 in favour were the 9 "muslim" states plus Vietnam and abstainers included Pol/Fin/Cro/Port. It also bemoaned the departure of Ger/Col/Jap from the WHC and the arrival of Tun/Kuw/Leb/Indon

Unfortunately, there is neither a written documentation of the decisions taken nore an available streaming of the third day of the current WHC in Paris. I can't find out whether the proposed change to the operational guidelines was adopted or not. Anyone with some inside knowledge?

The ammendment to the operational guidelines has been adopted. I cannot have access to the ammended version to check whether the draft has been modified or adopted in its available version. We will have to wait for further information.
