so the supposed area of 1,000+ ha. for wadden sea turned out to be a typographical error. it is almost 1M ha. in size. the error was due to assumption that the commas to indicate the thousands place for the area of some subsites were treated as decimals. as for the dolomites, there is also a difference in the area as published in the whc website (130,000+ ha) vs the advisory body evaluation (140,000+ ha.). very typical of whc. it's the official website of the whs and yet the infos they include there are inaccurate. lol. |
