A great deal of work seems to be going into this nomination, fantastic to see Australia teaming up with the Lao cultural authorities.

Update on Lao's Plain of Jars

Laos prepares to nominate Plain of Jars as World Heritage Site. Although the efforts have been largely successful, implementation of the action plan for managing the Plain of Jars, that will be submitted by the Lao government and UNESCO, has failed, Deputy Minister of Information Culture and Tourism said.

The US Tentative List will be finalized Fall 2016. Currently and probably through the Spring next year the NPS will be narrowing down their indicative list. The nominations which have local support and can potentially meet the criteria of UNESCO will certainly be considered. Moreover, the NPS is currently discussing unrepresented themes amongst the current world heritage sites. Charleston has probably been the most vocal candidate and has been running a social media campaign for quite some time now.

I'd love to see enough local support to get a colonial American city (whether Charleston, Newport, or some other city) on the US Tentative List. I'm looking forward to seeing the new list next year. Thanks for the update!
