Interesting, I thought the Cathar Castles were their own listing. Which was one reason I was so shocked it wasn't an extension. They must have added the other chateaux to this and linked them all to Carcassonne.

low-key with regards to the Cathars - Khuft
It seems most of the castle were built by the King of France to defend his southern border after the end of the crusade against the Cathars.
Cathars fortified villages were destroyed for building some of those castle. The denomination of "Cathar castle" was created as a communication tool for tourism purpose in the 20th century.
Saying that, those castles are impressive on top of very high hills, and in my opinion, are worth of an inscrpition, even if they would not be linked to Carcasonne town.

ESMA Site Museum - Former Clandestine Centre of Detention, Torture, and Extermination (25/04/2017) ArgentinaDerzhprom (the State Industry Building) (27/04/2017) Ukraine

These 2 are quite remarkable I think:

Between 1976 and 1983, during the last military dictatorship, ESMA premises was a fundamental part of the repressive scheme whose epicentre was in this building, where the Clandestine Centre of Detention, Torture, and Extermination (CCDTyE) operated. Here, the Navy kidnapped, tortured and disappeared more than 5,000 men and women. The serious human rights violations, the systematic plan to steal children born in captivity, and the extermination of prisoners who were thrown alive into the sea during the so-called "flights of death" make this building a symbol of the genocide that took place in our country. It is incontrovertible proof of the State terrorism that inflicted extreme criminal violence on society at large.

Derzhprom is the world's first state-level office building solved in modernist forms. The world's largest building in the constructivist style was built at the beginning of the worldwide creative development of this style and had a significant impact on the development of not only Ukrainian but also world culture and architecture.

I kind of like it. I wish Spain was involved - is mentioning the future process of globalization a kind of invitation?

"The elements of heritage corresponding to the era of the first Portuguese overseas expeditions in the Atlantic represent exceptional evidence of the start of a new economic geography, which was very different to what had preceded it.
They bear witness to a period in history which was the catalyst for new commercial areas for Europe and of the first real global international trade, which started in Lagos, continued in Lisbon, and was then continued by Castile and by the Spanish Monarchy in Seville and the Low Countries (Bruges, Antwerp); the process was concluded by the hegemony of the Dutch (Amsterdam) and the English (London), who renewed it with a new economic geopolitics, and from which they profited from the 17th century onwards."

This must be one of the most over-the-top introduction to a TL site I've ever encountered:
"Sutjeska National Park is a jewel in the Green Crown of Europe, and undoubtedly the most precious jewel, never fully explored, the largest natural reserve of this kind in Europe, real challenge for all botanists but, at the same time, inaccessible to the common man for decades is Strict Nature Reserve "Perućica"."
