There is one site I just haven't been able to work out -no 19. It looks like "Revere Bozzolo". I can find "Bozzolo" -but there doesn't seem to be anything of significance there that I can see

It's indeed Revere AND Bozzolo, two towns near Mantua

Which takes us to ITALY!!!!

Hope I can help to clarify a bit of this mess. Just a few things I have noticed and checked from the current T-list entries:

- Piazza Armorina (Sicily) 1984 - Piazza Armerina is the town next to Villa Romana del Casale (insrcibed in 1997), about 3 km away. I am not sure whether the two sites are identical, the town has also an medieval cathedral and a historic town centre like almost all Italian towns, but I think they are most likely identical.

- Torcello 1984 - it must be the island in the Venice Lagoon (inscribed in 1987), I do not know another place with this name

- Bari Cathedral, Otranto Cathedral, Bitonto Cathedral 1984 - all part of the current T-list entry "Romanesque Cathedrals in Puglia (2006) ", but Trani Cathedral is not mentioned

- Certosa di Pavia Monastery 1984 - part of the current T-list enty "Historic centre of Pavia and Chartreuse (2006)"

- Villa Di Caprarola (Farnese) and Villa Lante in Bagnaia 1984 - both part of the current T-list entry " Villas of the Papal Nobility (2006)"

- Torino 1984 - maybe changed to "Residences of the Royal House of Savoy" inscribed in 1997

- Pomposa Abbey 1984 - part of the WHS "Ferrara, City of the Renaissance, and its Po Delta"

Finland Bronze Age Burial site of Huiluvuori

This one I had really trouble with. Googling it only yields various sites in Finnish or links to the pdf on the WHC website. However, some of these Finnish sites also have Sammalahdenmäki on their title. What's more, the location mentioned in the 1995 pdf refers to Lappi as the location of the site - now one might believe this refers to Lapland (Lappi in Finnish), but no: the municipality where Sammalahdenmäki is located is also called Lappi and is in Southern Finland (which is consistent with the statement that it is located in the province of Turku and Pori - which does not exist anymore, as the province is now called Satakunta - but the capital of this one is Pori)! Since, last but not least, Sammalahdenmäki was not on the 1995 TL list, but was added to the WHL in 1999, I would presume it's the same site as Huiluvuori... Can anyone confirm?

Jamaica is a bit of a mystery. It submitted a T List in 1987 but revised it in 1988 -2 sites got "lost" in those months. Do we count them as ever having been on the T List? Might as well? BUT the 1988 T List is said to "Not fully meet the Reqs for a T List and although it was included in the 1995 complete reprint of all extant T Lists by 1998 Jamaica is said to have have no "Registered T List!
Jamaica White Marl Arawak Arch site 1987 Not on "revised" 1988 Version
Jamaica Mason River Botanical station 1987 Not on "revised" 1988 Version
Jamaica Head Quarters House Kingston 1988 Not regarded as a "fully" meeting the reqs of a T List!
Jamaica Historical Zone of Falmouth 1988 Not regarded as a "fully" meeting the reqs of a T List!

Libya is another mystery. In 1984 it submits a T List. Then in 1987 it submits some of them aain as part of a T List "du Grand Maghreb" with Morocco, Mauritania, Algeria etc. These all still exist on the 1995 "recap list" but by 1998 it is said to have NO T List at all! I have counted them all as being "Official" from 1984 until 1998

I do think so too. Both names are sometimes used on Finnish websites.

Maldives The 5 sites we have listed as "Nominated in the past" were from the 1987 T List - not 1988. These were still shown in 1995 but Maldives had no T List in 1998

Mali Ensemble Adrar des Iforhas, Valle du Tilemsi, Es-souk 1987 Has no T List in 1998 (there is a site at Es-Souk which we have now but it isn't clear if this is the same one)
Mali Piste Trans Saharienne de l'Or et du Sel -Thegaza, Taoudeni etc 1987 Mali has no T List in 1998 so this and those below can be assumed to have been removed by 1998 - but when isn't clear
Mali Establissments humains du Lac Debo et Culture Bozo 1987 Has no T List in 1998
Mali Establissments humains de la region de Kangaba, coeur du Pays Mande 1987 Has no T List in 1998
Mali Establissments humains de la falaise de Tamboura 1987 Has no T List in 1998
Mali Un esnembel Hypogees de la Region de Bougouni 1987 Has no T List in 1998

Solivagant, you are welcome to add the missing details to the countries I did. So far these are all from the end to Tunisia.

Gee - Thanks!! I had thought I was closer to "T" than I am - hopefully there aren't many more Italy type countries left. Thanks for the ones you have done

Just to clarify what will and will NOT have been achieved
a. We "know" the full T List as of 1995 from the WHC paper of that year
b. We "know" some of the T Lists submitted by some individual countries pre 1995 (since 1980) from earlier WHC papers
c. We "know" the full T Lists each year since 1995 and certainly since 1998 from WHC papers for each year - but they don't easily show the sites added/removed since the previous year
d. We have "easy access" on this site by each country to current inscriptions, current T Lists and some "Nominated in the past" where these had previuosly been identified by us.
e. Using a and d we will have identified sites which are present on a (as of 1995) but nowhere in d (identified on this Web site) - there are a surprisingly large (to me at least!) number of these and this will have been the main benefit of the exercise.
f. There is a potential problem with sites added pre a (1995) and then removed pre a. I hadn't originally expected that countries would have put in more than 1 T List during the period 1980 to 1995 but some certainly have and there have been both additions and removals in these -the latter are the problem for ensuring we have identified all sites ever on a T List (though the former are also needed in order to identify when a site came on to a T List). Where I/we have identified this as a possibility AND found (both of) the earlier T Lists (but some/many are missing from WHC papers) I/we have been able to identify the sites which came on AND went off during this period. There HAVE been some of these BUT we can't be sure that we have identified all of them.
g. I certainly have not done a thorough look through individual T Lists between a (1995) and now. The only looks I have given these is to try to identify WHEN sites on a (1995) but not on d (this site as of now) were actually removed. It is possible therefore that there are sites added AFTER 1995 which have also been removed since then but have not so far been identified on this site or by this exercise. However, where this "removal" has happened since 2005 (possibly earlier?), they are likely to have been identified as part of the "normal" T List updating on this site.

This is sterling work Solivagant.

If there are any bits you want to put on the back-burner for a little while I may be able to chip in next week.

Solivagant:
Nigeria Abuja (New Capital) 1988 Nov 95

Abuja was submitted as a World Heritage Site in 1988! They were still building it!

Thanks - I am part through Spain now which is the last "biggie" - just Sri L, Sud, Swe, Syr and Thai after that so I will see it through!

ELS - I am assuming that you will be picking up on the corrections identified by e.g Hubert and Winterkjm without me having to go back and correct the entries? There are some "issues" as well which we can look at later.

It looks as if there are going to be around 300 extra sites doesn't it? I wonder if we should also start looking for links to describe/explain the sites since there is of course no UNESCO information to point to.

I cannot find what this related too. Sian Ka'an and Calakmul (inscribed) as well as Banco Chinchorro (T-list) are all in Campeche.
