India's Rammapa Temple is the 2nd nomination for 2018, Mumbai being the other. One wonders, if this will be a complete nomination? Perhaps a backup? Or submitted, but won't be evaluated until 2019? I cannot imagine either of India's two confirmed nominations would be a cultural landscape?

I agree with you, this is strange and neither of them is described as a cultural landscape in their tentative list descriptions

According to all the news I got, Only Ramappa temple got nominated for World heritage. No where Warangal fort name is mentioned. We have already seen many instance where Indian authority nominate only a part of tentative list like only Jantar mantar, Jaipur got nominated out of 5 mentioned in TL. Only 5 Hill forts nominated out of 7 in TL. If the nomination is only Ramappa, it has to be Cultural only.

· Coral Stone Mosques (Maldives)

Malé Friday Mosque, part of the serial nomination is currently threatened by relocation. The Kalhuvakaru Mosque, which was not included in the nomination, but considered in the comparative analysis was relocated recently. The UNESCO description (from 2013) said the mosque lost its authenticity because it was relocated, but it seems the mosque was not relocated until 2015/2016! Both articles are from the later part of 2016, and it just seems with all the uncertainty the nomination could not possible have been submitted by February 1st. If by chance it was, I imagine ICOMOS would have alot to say about the relocation of heritage sites. Our original hint of a nomination came from this Article in 2014.

http://maldivesindependent.com/society/bid-to-prevent-relocation-of-males-ancient-mos que-rejected-127023

From the document "Examination of International Assistance Requests"
Preparatory assistance for the serial
nomination of coral stone mosques:
Further survey on construction techniques
of Coral Stone Mosques towards the
identification of OUV, comparative
analysis and review of the choice of
mosques for World Heritage nomination.

On Jul 8th 2015, 30,000 US Dollars was approved for preparatory assistance

Most of our sources come from 2014 - 2015, will little to nothing in-between, only reports in 2016 of relocation issues of historic mosques.

Thailand seems to go for this one: Phra That Phanom (might just have been in time for 2018? or otherwise 2019).
I don't see it on the Tentative List?

One of the thing I often found on news articles on Thailand WHS (actually on Indonesian, Malaysian, and other southeast Asians too) is that it is the outcome of lack of understanding on WHS nomination process from media or even the government itself. From the news on January, Thailand cabinet approved Phra That Phanom to be submitted in the tentative list, and Thailand Ministry seem to believe that when the country submit a tentative site, it is required to get final approval from WHC again on WHC annual meeting, so every time media interview the government, they will answer that everything will be up to WHC decision which cause confusion that is it about tentative list nomination or WHS nomination. For Phra That Phanom, I think it is the same situation, the whole report is about be listed on the tentative list not the on WHS list.

Based on this report it appears that China's cultural nomination is limited to just Quanzhou.

I don't understand the differentiation, the article lists both nominations? Do you mean the Maritime nomination will be limited in scope? Another name for the Qunazhou nomination is Maritime Silk Road. Regardless of the details, 2 dossiers have been submitted to UNESCO, one cultural, and one natural.

· Maritime Silk Road (China) C
· Fanjingshan (China) N

Not sure about this. The Maritime Silk Road nomination consists of sites in various cities like Nanjing, Guangzhou, Ningbo, etc. Quanzhou is just one city in this potential nomination. It may be that the scope of the nomination has been limited. On the other hand, there is also a separate entry on the tentative list for "Historic Monuments and Sites of Ancient Quanzhou (Zayton)" although the city's role as an important port along the Maritime Silk Road seems to be the most important reason for its nomination. The article mentions Ancient Quanzhou as China's nomination for 2018.

Does this mean Romania submitted the Roșia Montană Mining Cultural Landscape nomination for 2018? The TWHS itself only was added to Romania's T-list on 2/18/2016.

Roșia Montană Mining Cultural Landscape

It seams official, but I am still not sure if this is allowed under the operational guidelines?

Here is a more organized article from the same newspaper that gives some detail on the submission.
