Mmm. Would be an annoying 'near miss' for me. An extension to Swaziland seems possible, would probably also cover the Ngwenya Mines

Solivagant:
. If you had time the direct road over the mountains from Barberton across to Swaziland would get you another country and also show you the modern reality of mining. Then carry on south to Mbabane and on to the Drakensbergs?

!!!!!!!

Volcanic and Forested Areas of Martinique (France) N
Cross-border space Maritime-Mercantour (France, Italy) N

What to make of France's other 2 potential nominations? Both delayed?

Secondly, I forgot Ivrea was already submitted in 2016, but had to wait for the next WHC. Therefore, we can assume Italy has 2 nominations, one cultural and the other a cultural landscape.

Yes, both delayed because Nimes and the sites of the First World War were officially announced. The next article also refers to the file of the Chaine des Puys for 2018.

UPDATE : Espace transfrontalier Marittime-Mercantour (Les Alpes de la Mer) France/Italy with Hanbury botanical gardens

The official website of this site already deleted its original plan on 2017 so it is postponed and no plan for its future.

Augustow Canal (Belarus, Poland) I believe its being planned for 2019. Belarus is seemingly planning 4 years, 4 inscriptions, one after another.

· The Complex of Yen Tu Monuments and Landscape (Vietnam) M

Latest official news of Yen Tu (10 Jan), it is just reported that Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is drafting and finishing the nomination of Yen Tu and plan for expansion and additional criteria for re-nomination dossier World Natural Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay. This doesn't sound promising for 2018.

I think you are absolutely correct, and Yen Tu is almost certainly dropped for 2018. Here is more confirmation.

Cat Ba Archipelago [Extension] (Vietnam)

- Bulwarked Frontier Fortifications [Extension] (Spain, Portugal) C`
- Natural Park of Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina (Portugal) N

Based on the numerous reports of a single nomination from Portugal and with no mention of additional submitted dossiers? Its probably safe to assume, these two candidates will be pursued at a later time.

winterkjm:
- Monuments of Ancient Pskov (Russia) C

Pskov has been delayed again, aim is now for 2019.
