I assumed wrongly that Mt. Fuji is a natural nomination. Actually Japan is seeking to inscribe it as a cultural site.

Just come back from Mt. Fuji, I also think that Fuji will be a natural site, but as a cultural site? this really make me question that my visit can be counted or not! as I only see Mt. Fuji from looking point at Kawaguchigo area and Fuji Hakone National Park similar to most tourists (I just read the nomination paper summary from UNESCO website and found out that the sites I went is not mentioned in the paper). It's a good trip but will be quite sad if this is just a near miss :(

I am really confused about India's nominations for 2013. The Dehli and Chandigarh Nomination didn't make the deadline. However, it seems these 3 sites did?

Great Himalayan National Park (Incomplete as of last year, but did it make the deadline?)

Qutb Shahi Monuments of Hyderabad: Golconda Fort, Qutb Shahi Tombs, Charminar

http://www.indianexpress.com/news/hyderabad-monument-beats-delhi-in-heritage-tag-race /897869/

The Victorian & Art Deco Ensemble of Mumbai, India (I don't see this on the tentative list, is this a new entry on the tentative list? Yet it does mention plans for 2013?)

Sites that 'seemingly' made the Feb 1st deadline.

Asia/Pacific

India
- Great Himalayan National Park
- Qutb Shahi Monuments of Hyderabad: Golconda
Fort, Qutb Shahi Tombs, Charminar
- River Island of Majuli, Cultural Landscape and Living Traditions in Midstream of Brahmaputra in Assam (Pending since 2006)

Japan
- Kamakura, Home of the Samurai
- Mt. Fuji

Korea, North (not 100%)
- Historic Monuments and Sites in Kaesong

Philippines
- Mt. Hamiguitan Range Wildlife Sanctuary

Europe/North America

Canada
- Red Bay
- Pimachiowin Aki

France
- Vineyards of Côtes de Nuits and Beaune
- The Cave of Chauvet-decorated Pont d'Arc

Germany
- Water features and Hercules within the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe

Netherlands
- Teylers

Portugal
- Coimbra Historical Centre (University, Uptown
and Sofia)

Russia
- Bolgar Historical and Archaeological Complex
- The ensemble of former city buildings of Sviyazhsk

Ukraine/Poland
- Wooden Tserkvas (Churches) of Carpathian Region in Ukraine and Poland

South Korea and the United States originially had plans for 2013, but they have been pushed to 2014. I haven't heard too much from China or Iran?

Am I missing any?

Is the Wooden Tserkvas one an extension of the Southern little Poland or the wooden churches of Slovakia?

SCRAP THAT just checked and it seems they are separate, apparently the SLP churches are not the same because:

They have their own spatial-planning structure and do not contain towers in the form of domes and tent-frame roof

I have no real specialism on Carpathian region ecclesiastical wooden architecture but I'm not convinced it really needs 3-6 different world heritage sites (depending on what you count).
But then I would probably argue for more 20th century modernist architecture to be added, so perhaps it isn't really so different?

Majuli River Island is in serious doubt for 2013. Seems like an apparent sabotage/consipiracy of the nomination files!!! The article claims that the nomination was sabotaged to allow India's other 2 nominations to make it through. Really?

"It is hence obvious that there was a clear-cut sabotage by certain ASI quarters in sending the Majuli nomination dossier."

All I can say is really, sabotage? I can't believe this is serious.

Does anyone have the overview / list of which nominations managed to squeeze in before the end Feb 2012 deadline for consideration in 2013? I can't find it anywhere. Or will it only be available once the docs for this year's WHC conference are made public?

Complete list of Nominations for 2013

Hmmm

Looking forward to hear if someone has visited:
Guinée Bissau Archipel des Bijagós – Motom Moranghajogo

Lots of obscure sites, or meagre leftovers from Europe. Even Denmark and Luxembourg have come into action again.

Okavango Delta, Chauvet cave and Coimbra look good to me.

I still don't understand how countries can put forward 2 cultural sites a year, and it always seems to be the really well represented ones (France!)

Okavango and Chauvet have incomplete dossiers, so they will not be considered this year.

I like at least Kamakura and Mt. Fuji (because I am going to visit them in a week or 2)
