Ethiopia

Ethiopia is a world in itself: it has its own calendar, alphabet, ancient christian religion and prides itself not to have been colonized.

At the end of 2003, I travelled around North Ethiopia for two weeks. Here I visited places like Bahar Dar, Gonder, Debark, Axum, Lalibela and Addis Abeba. Four worldheritages were on my trail: the castles of Gonder, the Simien Mountains, Axum's obelisks and of course the churches of Lalibela.

This year's Christmas trip was a special one: for two weeks I toured in the northern part of Ethiopia. This is where the cultural heart is. Here I went to Aksum, Gonder and Lalibela - history stretching centuries. Ethiopia's nature also is a major asset, as I experienced in the Simien Mountains.
