Webmaster's Bio

Els Slots is a global traveller based in The Netherlands. She has extensive independent travel experience in more than 65 official countries. Her goal in life is to visit all UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Besides being on the road herself, she enjoys reading and writing about travel and life abroad. She is proud of her bookcase filled with over 400 volumes of Travel Writing. Her own writing and photos appear frequently on the internet, and she was one of the authors of the successful Hoe word ik wereldreiziger ('How do I become a global Traveller?') (ISBN 9020971506).

Els holds a Master's degree in Modern and Social Economic History from Leiden University. The subject of her thesis was The Aftermath of the Abolition of Slavery on Curacao. She speaks Dutch, English, German, French, Spanish and Chinese (to some extent).

When she's not travelling, she is earning money to pay for new trips. She's currently employed as Bid Director at an international Information Technology firm.
